about

'Binoculars' is the debut release from the Marc Riordan Quartet, a creative jazz unit that has been refining its sound in front of Chicago audiences since 2009. Featuring Brooklyn based Peter Hanson (alto sax) alongside Chicagoans Marc Riordan (piano), Daniel Thatcher (bass) and Tim Daisy (drums), 'Binoculars' travels a diverse terrain of energy music, free bop, and straight ahead, balancing dissonance and cacophony with swinging, tuneful melody.

"Intriguing and highly eclectic."
-POINT OF DEPARTURE

"Sober and rigorous yet buoyant..."
-CHICAGO READER

"Marc Riordan might have made a name for himself as a drummer, but with Binoculars, he stands in danger of being known as a drummer fourth, after pianist, composer and bandleader."
-SOMETHING ELSE!

"Freebop with grit and joy. . . Search this one out."
-GAPPLEGATE MUSIC REVIEW

"Versatile and skilled, with eyes on both the past and the future."
-FOXY DIGITALIS

"Riordan is a fine pianist."
